A graduate of Indiana University (B.A., 1957) and the University of North Carolina (Ph.D., 1963), Dr. Brown wrote biographies, Daniel Webster (1969) and Edward Stanly (1974), before turning to Texas political history. He has published Hood, Bonnet, and Little Brown Jug: Texas Politics, 1921-1928 (1984).
